A Busy Launch Month - May 2024 Recap
May was a busy month for Oakville Bluegrass Cooperative! Check out our highlights below:

Field Day
We hosted our first field day event in Ceres at the East Stanislaus Resource Conservation District’s SOILS center on May 8.
Kelsey Fenn and Andy Gal from UC Davis presented on the benefits of Oakville bluegrass for almond orchards and vineyards even demonstrating how much healthier soil with Oakville bluegrass is to bare soil with no cover crop. Growers Nav Athwal and Al Wagner shared stories about how effective Oakville bluegrass has been in their operations.
Attendees also had an opportunity to look at our seeder and see the dormant grass in action at an almond orchard behind the building.
We appreciated the lively discussion around cover cropping and the benefits of Oakville bluegrass. If you missed the event, we’d still love to chat with you! Reach out today.
PAGG Workshop
A couple of our team members headed to Madera on May 18 for PAGG’s (Punjabi American Growers Group) annual workshop for growers. A full day of programming highlighted the opportunities and challenges currently facing growers. We enjoyed answering questions about Oakville bluegrass in almond orchards with attendees. Over 2,000 attendees and 50 vendors were present.

Website Refresh
You may have noticed, we have a new look! It was time to refresh our website to align with the broader goals of our co-op going forward. But we want to hear from you! What kind of resources and content would be helpful for you to see on the website in the future to support your sustainable agriculture journey?
We’re looking forward to an active June as well, including attendance at the Economics of Organic Viticulture on June 25th and enrolling participants in the USDA incentive program.
